Dear Providence

struggle to rest
with sore light from the street,
tied to bed, shortsighted
sands in lungs
choked on tears
dampened by sweat

at your words I tremble
about which my mind freely
doubts like a log on waves

on your door I knock
explain to me this pair
of fear
of despair
